Nestled in the outdoor courtyard area of the Tura Beach Library, our Bush & Us Mural Project has come to life in a vibrant display! This mural celebrates the local flora and fauna native to the Tura Beach area. Designed by local Indigenous artist Lucinda Thurston, this eye-catching mural was painted over several weeks in collaboration with other local artists, young people, and friends. As the Project Coordinator, I have been absolutely thrilled to see this vision progress over time, resulting in an engaging and vivacious art piece for many to enjoy.
We have had fantastic conversations with library goers who expressed their delight and enthusiasm at seeing a previously unused corner come to life. Watching the transformation of a dull grey wall into a massive 7-meter-long mural was nothing short of phenomenal!
Below are some progress pictures taken during the painting process. It was fabulous working with the staff from Tura Marrang Library, who provided our painting team with lots of encouragement along the way. Bush & Us is so grateful to have had this opportunity to collaborate with a wonderful community space and create art that will be loved and appreciated for many years to come!
